Introduced c. 1981, BC was a leopard/cat with bear-like ears who "helped" Anglia continuity announcers present the channel's popular children's slot "Birthday Club". The idea for BC was suggested by Anglia presenter Helen McDermott, who had previously worked with the legendary Gus Honeybun puppet, a fixture on Westward TV since the early 1960s.
